This came from (of all places) "SpongeBob SquarePants" in the episode "Mermaidman and Barnicleboy V": Squidward became "Captain Magma" whose catch phrase was "Krakatoa!" and lava spewed out of the top of his volcano cap!
No that did not - Kilborn was calling SportsCenter before SpongeBob.
Hey bro Spongebob did not spawn that catchphrase, sorry to burst your bubble. Craigers was an anchor on El Centre long before the sponge was soaking up the spotlight on tv. Kilborn 1993-1996
"Crackatoa, east of Java" is an obscure line from an episode of Seinfeld entitled "The Truth," which first aired September 25, 1991. This seems to make more sense.
CRAKATOA WAS/IS A VOLCANO BACK IN THE DAY IT WAS USED AS A SMALL VILLIGE FOR POOR FAMILIES THAT SETTLED THERE CAUSE THE OUTSKIRTS OF THE VOLCANO DIDNT ALLOW AND WOMAN OR CHILDREN DUE TO THE WAR
Okay, first of all it's spelled "Krakatoa" or "Krakatua." They made a movie about the eruption of that volcano named Krakatoa, East of Java. However, the volcano is actually west of Java.
Regardless of the origin, the phrase was used by Kilborn to describe a mammoth home run.
